Summer Interns Praise the Center

“The practical experience I gained while working at the Buhai Center is something that I know I could not have learned from any class or through any other internship. The challenges of the first year law curriculum at times left me overwhelmed and I became jaded, losing sight of the reasons I chose to study law. Now, I am so confident that I can truly build a career as an attorney and practice in an area in which I can truly change the lives of individuals.” – Nicole King, 2010 Trope and Trope/USC Public Interest Family Law Fellow,

All of the Center’s 2010 summer interns shared Nicole’s positive feelings about their experiences at the Center. Working directly with Center attorneys they learned family law, interviewed clients and prepared court forms and other legal documents.

Other 2010 summer interns said:

• “The program is definitely life changing. The program teaches not only how to be a strong advocate for your client but also provided me with satisfaction that I am making a difference.” –Heidi Sison, UC Hastings

• “Harriett Buhai’s law student program not only benefits the clients that it is dedicated to helping, but it also makes a positive difference in each and every law student that belongs in the program. Thank you.”–Vanessa Meraz, Southwestern
