12th Annual Buhai Brunch
Thank you to all the Harriett Buhai Center for Family Law’s friends and supporters who made the 12th Annual Buhai Brunch a wonderful event!
On Sunday, October 23rd, Mistress of Ceremonies (and Buhai Brunch creator) Laura A. Wasser welcomed nearly 300 guests at the Conga Room for a morning of dancing, live salsa music and Latin inspired brunch, all benefiting a great cause. The 2011 event raised over $160,000 to support the Center’s mission of protecting victims of domestic violence and improving the well- being of children living in poverty.
Guest speaker and former client, A.V. shared how the Harriett Buhai Center’s services had a positive impact on her and her family’s future. A.V. was trapped in an abusive marriage afraid to leave for fear of losing her children. Through the Center’s services, A.V. not only received the legal help she needed but also was empowered to completely transform her life. A.V. is now a true community role model and works at a local health center to serve low-income individuals.
“My experience with the Buhai Center empowered me and gave me strength and confidence to accomplish what before I could only dream about. I am so grateful to the Harriett Buhai Center for being there when I needed them and for helping me to make a better life for myself, my family and the community I am privileged to serve. The Buhai Center helped me to change my life and become the person I am today.”
