New Volunteer Orientation February 13, 2020

The Harriett Buhai Center relies on dedicated attorneys and law students like you to help clients who cannot afford an attorney. Our clients’ family law cases concern some of the most critical issues a person can face: personal safety, the well-being of children, and a family’s economic security after the end of a marriage.

The next New Volunteer Orientation is:

Thursday, February 13, 2020, from 6:00pm-7:30pm at the Harriett Buhai Center’s office in Koreatown.

Interested lawyers, law students, and law school graduates may sign up. Please share with friends, colleagues, or others who you think may be interested!

As a volunteer at the Harriett Buhai Center, you may:

  • Help a mother get protection from abuse for herself and her children;
  • Help a young single father establish a visitation schedule for his newborn son, paving the way for a healthy co-parenting relationship;
  • Help a client who is divorcing after a 30-year marriage obtain half of her spouse’s pension and secure her interest in a family home;
  • And more!

    • In exchange for this invaluable assistance, you will:

  • Learn a wide range of family law-related topics, including domestic violence, financial support, and custody and visitation;
  • Gain experience analyzing legal issues in a variety of cases; and
  • Hone valuable interviewing and writing skills.

    • The Harriett Buhai Center offers weekday and Saturday opportunities through a variety of programs designed to fit your needs. Volunteers are offered a convenient training and on-boarding process that begins with an orientation.
